A couple years ago, I had a friend whose New Year’s resolution was to learn how to cook. Apparently, he could barely boil pasta or cook scrambled eggs. That seems crazy to some of us, but if you were never taught, then how would you know? So, I volunteered to teach him what he needs to know, starting with just the basics, which starts with the right utensil and tools. Eight classes later, he now has a notebook full of recipes he learned to cook and is now confident in his cooking abilities.
Whether you are just starting out as someone who wants to learn to cook, or you are already pretty good and are just looking for some new recipes or tricks, we’ve got to start with some basics. Below is a list for the right cooking utensils and tools every kitchen should have for cooking most meals. This is not a comprehensive list, but just the basics if just starting out.
