My favorite cookies came from Sprouts, and this was an attempt to copy them, which took several tries. Turns out, Sprouts buys the cookie dough from Europe. Thought that was weird, but also tried to get the dough myself...they only sell to retailers. Argh! Hence this creation, which is hands down AMAZING! Try for yourself....you won't be able to just eat one.
Ingredients:
1 package of Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips (and all the ingredients needed to make cookies on the package)
1 package of single wrapped caramels
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a small pot, over medium low heat, unwrap and melt about half the package of caramels with half the can of condensed milk. Stir constantly, do not burn.
Once melted, remove from heat and set aside.
Make cookie dough as chocolate chip package directs.
Spread half the cookie dough onto a cookie sheet.
Spread a thin layer of the caramel over the cookie dough (might not use it all).
Top with the rest of the cookie dough, using your hands to spread as evenly as possible.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until cookie dough looks slightly browned.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Once cool, cut into squares, and enjoy!
If you have left over caramel sauce, you can save it in the refrigerator for the next batch.
