Did you know that this bright yellowish aromatic powder is obtained from the rhizome (root part of a plant) of an Asian plant related to the ginger family? If you are not familiar with the benefits of Ginger, check out the article here. So, you can only imagine the benefits of Turmeric as well.

Fun fact.....not only is this powder used for flavoring in Asian cooking, but it was formerly used as a fabric dye. Be careful about getting this powder on your clothes!

Western medicine has now recognized the multiple healing properties from ingesting turmeric, such as anti-inflammatory properties and powerful antioxidants. Turmeric has also been linked to helping the prevention of cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer's. In addition, turmeric aids in digestion, which can help to speed up the metabolism and burn fat. Start incorporating turmeric into daily routine to maximize the benefits.

Here are some great ways to add turmeric to your daily routine:

  • take a daily turmeric supplement

  • add it to your eggs

  • make a tea

  • add it to rice

  • add it to your pasta sauce

  • make a turmeric dressing

  • spice up your meat dishes

  • make crispy cauliflower tacos with turmeric (delicious!)
